If you do not know what MochiAds is then you should read my post about ‘how to make money from MochiAds‘. If you have a flash gaming or arcade website and if you have added some MochiAds enabled games then you will earn some money from MochiAds by displaying advertisements before the game starts. If you have added some MochiAds games in your website but never registered to MochiAds then you are missing a great opportunity to earn some money from them. You can register at MochiAds for free by clicking here. Then you have to verify your domain by putting some simple codes in your website. That is all you need to do to earn cash from MochiAds. You can earn money either as a publisher or as a developer. On the other hand some could earn money both as a publisher and a developer. If you have a website and you have added some MochiAds games then you will earn money as a publisher, while if you have developed some games and added MochiAds codes into you games to distribute your games through MochiAds then you will earn money as a developer. You might have an arcade website where you have added MochiAds games which are developed by you then you will earn money both as publisher and developer.
You could earn money both for impressions and clicks on the advertisements that you show before the game in MochiAds enabled games. MochiAds shares advertisement revenue with publishers and developers. They pay 10% of the earnings to publishers and 50% to developers, while they keep 40% to themselves for providing services. So, if you are both publisher and developer of MochiAds games then you will get 60% of the ad revenue generating from your MochiAds games. Another important thing is that you will get paid from MochiAds when your payment will reach $100, before that you cannot request money from them. So, if you are only a publisher of MochiAds games then you might need to wait longer than the developers who usually earn more from them.
I have added many MochiAds games in my websites arcadevine, arcadeset, and playdressupgirl and I usually earn about $0.07 eCPM as a publisher, about 7 cents for every 1000 impressions. You may not earn some huge amount of money from MochiAds as a publisher if you do not generate millions of page views each day from your website, but still it is a nice little money that we can earn from MochiAds by adding their games in our websites. Also your earnings will depend on the quality of the traffic in your website. If you have higher US or UK traffic then you will earn higher as most of the advertisers will only pay if the traffic comes from English speaking countries. My websites get more than 80% traffic from US and UK combined, so that helps. In any case it is very difficult to get more than $0.10 eCPM as a publisher if you do not have a large and well established website. The most important points are as a publisher we get these MochiAds games free to add in our websites and also get some money from them without doing anything extra. As a publisher earnings from MochiAds games should not be considered as the primary source of revenue but should be treated as an add-on to other advertisements sources.
On the other hand developers earn a lot better than the publishers as they get a much higher cut of the revenue. On an average developers earn about $0.20-$0.30 eCPM from their games (source: MochiAds Forums). Some larger and well established developers might earn more than the average eCPM. If you know flash programming then you might think about developing flash games as you could earn some serious money as a developer. If your games are popular then you can earn a lot more from MochiAds.
MochiMedia recently released a micro-transaction system for MochiAds games called ‘MochiCoins’. At the present time only a handful of games are MochiCoins enabled. In those premium MochiAds games player can unlock extra contents, upgrades or bonuses by spending MochiCoins. You need to spend real money to buy MochiCoins. You can buy about 800 MochiCoins by spending $1 at the present time. Developers will earn 60% of the revenue that are generated from their MochiCoins enabled games while MochiAds will keep the rest 40% for their service. This new micro-transaction in flash games will help the game developers to earn more money from their games and also encourage them to develop better games. Flash games were usually free to play, but this system will encourage the players to spend money to get some extra content which are otherwise inaccessible in the game. Now it is remain to be seen how the players will react to this system. Flash game players usually play these games because these games are free to play, but now if they have to spent some cash to unlock some extra levels do they still play these games and spend money?. According to MochiAds players will not hesitate to spend money to get some extra content if the content is worth the price. The preliminary results from MochiAds enabled games are very encouraging according to MochiAds and some developers are getting about $5.00-$10.00 eCPM from MochiCoins enabled games. It is a great revenue stream for flash game developers as this type of revenue generating system was inaccessible to them earlier and they are now very encouraged. Though it is remain to be seen how these MochiCoins enabled games works in the long run as these free flash games are now directly competing with the console games and other paid games.
Publishers will not get any revenue from MochiCoins system and that is created a huge uproar in the publisher community. Publishers want some kind of revenue cut for them but developers are dead against it. Developers said that they developed the games and distributing this high quality games for free to the publishers and they should be happy with them, but the publishers are not accepting this argument. Publishers said that they are publishing these games to a huge community of gamers that enables the developers to earn more from those games and they deserve a cut in that revenue. Even some of the publishers said that they would not publish those MochiCoins games if they did not get any revenue from those games. Another valid argument for publishers is that players need to go to another website to login into the MochiCoins system that might create traffic loss for publishers and traffic gain for MochiMedia, so publishers should get compensated for that loss. Recently MochiAds said that they might come with a suitable agreement for the publishers which might enable the publishers to get some money from those MochiCoins enabled games, but nothing has been finalized yet. It remains to be seen how this fight between publishers and developers unfold in future.
Anyway, MochiAds created another system which might shape the flash gaming industry in a very different way. Flash game developers encouraged with the new earning stream and these might help them to create some very high quality games that can compete with the console games. If this system works and publishers and developers come to a suitable agreement between themselves then with the help of MochiAds we might see a different flash gaming industry in the future where premium casual games are challenging console games. Let us hope for a better future for the flash gaming industry.
By the way, if you are still looking for the link to register to MochiAds then you can do so by clicking here.

I just wanted to clear up your point in the later portion of your post about Coins, in that we’re actually planning to offer a publisher share. Site publishers will receive an affiliate fee for adding these premium micro-transactions enabled games onto their site. Right now we haven’t announced all of the details, but expect this soon. We value site publishers and I hope that helps clear things up.
